How to Build a Ritual

A ritual is a routine you actually keep. It is built from the smallest number of formulas that answer what your skin is asking for, in an order you can repeat without thinking.

Start with the ask, not the shelf

Before choosing a product, name the concern. Tightness and dullness are usually dehydration. Redness and stinging are usually a barrier that needs support. Marks that linger after a blemish are tone. Roughness and visible pores are texture. Most people have one primary concern and one secondary. Build for the first; nod to the second.

Hydration + Dryness · Barrier + Sensitivity · Dark Spots + Uneven Tone · Fine Lines + Firmness · Texture + Congestion · Tired + Puffy Eyes

The three-step floor

Every ritual, however short, needs a cleanser, a treatment and a moisturizer. Cleanse. Treat. Layer. That is enough for most skin most of the time, and it is where we suggest everyone begins.

Add one thing at a time

When you add a new active, add only that. Give it three to four weeks before judging it. If you introduce a peptide serum, a lactic peel and a new moisturizer in the same week and your skin reacts, you will not know which one to remove.

Morning and night are different

Morning is for protection: hydration, antioxidants, moisturizer, sunscreen. Night is for repair: cleansing properly, renewal actives, richer creams and oils. A serum that belongs at night does not belong under sunscreen.

Let the Methods do the choosing

If you would rather not assemble a ritual yourself, each Method brings compatible formulas together around a single visible concern, already in order. The Rituals do the same for a complete daily sequence.
